High School Musical 2 from Disney Channel Breaks Record
High School Musical 2 may have been the most anticipated made-for-TV movie ever and the numbers are backing that up. The movie premiered on Disney Channel on August 17th and, according to Nielson Media Research, drew 17.2 million viewers. This made High School Musical 2 the most watched TV show on basic cable ever.
The movie was so popular that, chances are, if you weren't watching it, your friend was. For every 5 girls between 6 and 11 years old that were watching TV Friday night, 4 were watching High School Musical 2.
High School Musical 2 is the follow on to the massive movie hit High School Musical. All of the major characters from the first movie were back. This time they are on summer break, but they end up working together at the local country club. We won't give away the ending, but the dance numbers and songs are similar to the first movie and, from the general reaction from kids everywhere, the sequel lived up to the hype. Erika, a 7 year old girl from North Carolina, said "It's just as good as the first movie….and I loved the first movie!".
There is also a High School Musical 2 soundtrack available from Disney with all the songs from the movie.
