The second installment of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies, Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules, will be released to theaters on March 25, 2010. The movie is a comedy about a kid's adventures in middle school based on the book by Jeff Kinney. It is rated PG.
The second movie picks up where the first movie left off. Now Greg Heffley, our not so likeable protagonist, is moving up to the seventh grade. The book series has been a great success among middle school kids selling over 42 million books. There are currently five books in the series and visual novels, or comics, of some of the books are available on Funbrain, Jeff Kinney's kid's web site. The books are a combination of comics and pictures and storyline. They are comedy and based on Jeff Kinney's middle school experiences.
The movie will be distributed by 20th Century Fox and was directed by David Bowers (Astro Boy, Flushed Away). The screenplay was written by Jeff Filgo (That 70's Show), Jeff Judah, and Gabe Sachs who also wrote the screenplay for the first movie.
